23th ANNUAL MYSTIC SK8 CUP 2017 / JUNE 30 – JULY 2 / the real skate contest

During the first weekend in July, Prague will be dominated by the Mystic Sk8 Cup 2017 skateboarding festival, celebrating its 23rd annual.

Mystic Sk8 Cup 2017 will be the largest skateboarding event on the European continent. The contest will take place 30th June – 2nd July on Stvanice Island in Prague, where the world’s best skaters will compete for 30.000 USD prize money in Streetstyle and Bowl. The festival atmosphere in the Relax Zone will be provided by live concerts and DJs.

150 top skaters from over 25 countries will compete from Friday until Sunday in Streetstyle, Bowl and Best Trick. Ladies will compete in Streetstyle. Friday will start with pre-qualification for European riders.

On Saturday, the contest will continue with Street qualifiers with top 29 riders advancing into semi-finals which will take place on Sunday. Last year’s winner will advance directly into the semi-finals and the winner of this year’s qualifiers will receive “The Ticket” and advance straight to the finals.

Bowl qualifiers will also take place on Saturday. Finals of both contests will take place on Sunday, Bowl from 16:00 and Street from 18:00. The contest will culminate by the Best Trick contest in which the riders will choose an obstacle in the skatepark on which they will attempt the most challenging tricks. Trophy and prize money giving ceremony will take place from 20:00. The contest is sanctioned by the Association of International Skateboarders.

The Relax Zone will offer superb sound stage which will on Friday night host US metal stars The Devil Wears Prada. On Saturday, we slightly change for an American hip-hop group Delinquent Habits and the Sunday closing concert will bring US hardcore sound with Madball. After 22:00, performances will continue on the DJ stage.

Apart from our music program, spectators will have the opportunity to try out their fingers in the fingerboard, take a glide on a skimboard or just lie in the grass and watch the live broadcast of the contest on a big screen. Restaurants, refreshment stalls, and bars will complement the festival atmosphere. Naturally, there will also be stalls with skateboard clothing and gear.

Saturday and Sunday contest will be broadcast live on including live English commentary providing spectators with details about riders and their tricks.
